The man had slit the throat of the woman and killed her infant son in Mohra Mahota village of Rawalpindi on Saturday. The injured woman was admitted to the hospital where she succumbed to the wounds on Sunday.

The woman was identified as Naseem bibi, while her son, aged 14 months, was identified as Gulfam.

Earlier today, the suspect Wajid Ali surrendered before police. According to Rawalpindi police, Wajid, who is about 23 years old is associated with wood working business. The case has been registered in Chauntra Police Station.

As per the First Information Report (FIR), Shamim bibi, sister of Naseem bibi told the police that she and her late sister were in the area for begging. Wajid Khan who Naseem bibi happened to know came there and took Naseem Bibi and her son with him on bike.

"Moments later, we saw him passing by us on his bike. Naseem bibi wasn t with her. When we rushed to the deserted area nearby, Naseem bibi and her son were lying there injured," added Shamim bibi in her statement.
