Karachi: Another police encounter declared as fake
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Police encounter that took place on January 3 in Site Area of Karachi turned out to be fake. Final report of the encounter has declared the slain Sultan Nazir innocent.
Last month, a youth Sultan Nazir was shot dead by police in the site area. After the incident, the policemen continued to call the encounter as real. According to the investigation report, Sultan Nazir was going home on January 3, via an online bike service. The bike rider stopped the motorcycle at a pump to refuel.
Police, on the other hand, were pursuing the two suspects. Fearing police firing the rider of the bike started running and Sultan followed him. Seeing both the riders running, the police party opened fire, which resulted in the death of the youth Sultan Nazir.
After the incident, Additional IG Karachi directed SSP Irfan Bahadur to investigate the incident. A case has also been registered against the officials under terrorism and other provisions.
