Lahore: Dolphin force killed accused in alleged encounter
LAHORE (Dunya News) – An accused was killed and three others escaped as a result of an alleged encounter between dolphin force and accused in the provincial capital Lahore. CCTV footage refuted the police claim. The Chief Minister took notice and sought a report of the incident from the IG.
According to details, an alleged police encounter took place in the early hours of the morning in Liaqatabad area on the outskirts of Lahore. An accused was shot dead by the Dolphin Force during the encounter.
Police responded to a call from 15 and opened fire on the accused. The deceased was identified as Jahangir. The dead body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Dolphin police said the suspect has a criminal record. Several cases of firing and drinking have been registered against him. The three accomplices of the accused fled the scene.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage has revealed the reality of the alleged encounter by the Dolphin Force. The footage shows the accused falling to the ground during the pursuit. Dolphin officers shot the accused after he fell on the ground. Police claimed that the accused opened fire on the police. The footage also shows the accused running away from the police.
The victim said that 4 obscene youths tried to rape her. The rickshaw driver said that all the four accused had weapons and were intoxicated.
On the other hand, the family members of the accused and the locals blocked Peco Road. Protesters were demanding action against Liaquatabad police.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar sought a report of the incident from IG Inam Ghani. IG Punjab has directed CCPO Lahore to complete the inquiry and submit a report.
In the light of the inquiry report, departmental and legal action will be taken against those responsible.
