Drug trafficking around educational institutions will be dealt with iron hands: IG Punjab
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Inam Ghani while issuing strict instructions has said that elements involved in drug trafficking around educational institutions will be dealt with iron hands while targeting ‘big fish’.
According to details, a meeting on crime control and traffic management was held in Lahore under the chairmanship of IG Punjab Inam Ghani.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that intelligence-based operations will be intensified to curb drug trafficking and the accused should be chained.
The IG Punjab said that with the identification of crime hotspot areas, the patrolling plan of Dolphin and Peru should be made more effective.
He said that during the peak time in the crime pockets, the circle officers should themselves go out in the field and monitor the patrolling plan and the situation.
He directed that the issuance of driving license should be monitored while continuing the computerized road sign test. The best use of manpower and full use of modern technology should be made to maintain uninterrupted and smooth flow of traffic.
He said that traffic wardens should be on high alert in congested areas while CTOs should also go out in the field and inspect the traffic situation.
In addition, awareness campaigns and other programs should continue to prevent traffic accidents.
On this occasion, IG Punjab also issued orders to speed up crackdown on beggar mafia from main highways and junctions.
He said that special action should be taken against professional beggars forcing children into begging.
He said that professional beggars should be cleared from the highways in collaboration with the teams of Child Protection Bureau.
Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, CTO Lahore Capt (retd) Syed Hammad Abid and AIG Operations Ghazi Salahuddin and other officers were also present in the meeting.
