Lady constable murdered in presence of 14 policemen in Nowshera
NOWSHERA (Dunya News) - In a densely populated area of Nowshera Akbarpura, an Elite Force lady constable was gunned down by armed assailants in the presence of other policemen outside Akbarpura police station.
According to Nowshera District Police Officer Najam Al Hasnain, Lady Constable Safia Khan of Elite Police was shot dead on the spot while her younger sister Neelam Khan was critically injured. Safia’s body was shifted to Mian Rashid Memorial Hospital while Neelam was taken to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar in critical condition.
DPO Nowshera took immediate action and immediately suspended 14 police personnel including SHO Akbarpura Inspector Basir Khan.
He has ordered to register a case under the Police Act against the 14 policemen, including SHO Akbarpura police station.
According to Najam-ul-Hasnain, the brothers of slain Lady Constable Safia had murdered the young son of her killer Nazar Mohammad some time ago, after which both Safia and her brothers had left their house.
According to the DPO, at the request of Lady Constable Safia Khan, the Peshawar High Court allowed her to take her belongings from her sealed house. When the lady constable along with the police reached to open her house, the relatives of the slain youth put up strong resistance.
According to police, the accused Nazar Mohammad along with his accomplices opened fire indiscriminately and seriously injured both Safia and her younger sister Neelam. Safia could not survive the gunshots and died soon after.
Police said that, with Neelam Khan as complainant, a case of murder and attempted murder has been registered against four people including the main accused Nazar Muhammad at Akbarpura police station.
