16923 shops sealed in Punjab amid violation of SOPs
LAHORE (Dunya News) - On the direction of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Shoaib Dastgir, operations are being carried out on violation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding prevention of Coronavirus. In the ongoing operation from June 6, 141263 shops were inspected and 16923 shops were sealed for violating SOPs.
A total of 190411 motorcycles, 62387 vehicles and 38790 public transport vehicles were checked from which 79204 Motorcycles, private vehicles and transport vehicles were fined by the Civil Administration for violation. 220043 citizens were stopped for and 12249 were fined for non-compliance with the SOPs.
4760 shops were inspected across the province and 946 shops were sealed for violating the SOPs. 10563 motorcycles, 3777 vehicles and 1593 public transport vehicles were also checked.
The Civil Administration fined 6545 motorcycles, private vehicles and public transport vehicles for violating SOPs. 6792 citizens were stopped for checking and 251 people were fined by the civil administration for violation.
Instructing the Punjab IG Shoaib Dastgir to expedite the operations to curb the spread of Coronavirus, he said that the instructions issued by the Punjab government regarding smart lockdown should be implemented in all cases.
The IG Punjab said that the police teams should continue their operations in collaboration with the civil administration to control the deadly Coronavirus epidemic. Also ensure that precautionary measures are taken to prevent coronavirus while on duty, he added.
