Bail granted to accused who tortured man in Lahore
Investigation Officer demanded judicial remand of the accused.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Accused who was arrested for torturing a man in Cavalry Ground locality of Lahore was released on bail on Monday after surety bonds of Rs0.2 million.
The plaintiff Gul Shan Shehzad in court of Judicial Magistrate Shahbaz Hassan Rana submitted an affidavit stating that no death threats was given, and he forgives the accused without any pressure.
Investigation Officer demanded judicial remand of the accused after police recovered the gun used in during the incident. The court rejected the plea and granted bail against surety bonds of Rs0.2 million.
Earlier on Sunday police arrested the accused, driving a Toyota Fortuner, for subjecting a citizen to violence and barbaric torture at gunpoint near Cavalry Ground area of Lahore. Police also seized weapons from his possession.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Operations Rai Babar Saeed took notice of the lawlessness when it was reported on the media, and the footage showed that the angry driver namely Aqeel also punched and kicked the citizen mercilessly in the face, and brought him public humiliation.
The footage that went viral on the social media showed that nobody came to rescue of the citizen and no policemen appeared at the spot to take action against public display of firearm.
The CCPO and the DIGP also directed the Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt to submit a report of the incident on the priority basis.
