Police arrest influential person for beating citizen at gunpoint in Lahore's Cavalry Ground
No policemen appeared at the spot to take action against public display of firearm.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Police on Sunday arrested an influential person, driving a Toyota Fortuner, for subjecting a citizen to violence and barbaric torture at gunpoint near Cavalry Ground area of Lahore. Police also seized weapons from his possession.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Operations Rai Babar Saeed took notice of the lawlessness when it was reported on the media, and the footage showed that the angry driver namely Aqeel also punched and kicked the citizen mercilessly in the face, and brought him public humiliation.
The footage that went viral on the social media showed that nobody came to rescue of the citizen and no policemen appeared at the spot to take action against public display of firearm.
The CCPO and the DIGP also directed the Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt to submit a report of the incident on the priority basis.
Meanwhile, policemen are searching for the citizen who was beaten by the arrested person, who is a resident of the State Life Housing Society Lahore.
