Anti-terrorism clauses included in Mureed Abbas murder case
Mureed's friend Khizar Hayat was killed in the public.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police personnel on Wednesday have included seven anti-terrorism clauses in the murder case of anchorperson Mureed Abbas and his friend.
According to Senior Superintendent, Mureed’s friend Khizar Hayat was killed in the public.
Earlier, suspect Atif Zaman had refused to record his confessional statement, saying that he has hired a lawyer and he would fight this case in the court of law.
Atif said he had no business and used to get commission of Rs200 to Rs 500 for each tyre.
Abbas, an anchorman working at the private television channel in Karachi, was allegedly shot by his business partner Atif Zaman, who also tried to commit suicide by shooting himself.
He was later admitted to a local hospital with critical injuries, according to Karachi police. Abbas’s friend Khizar Hayat was also shot on the spot and later succumbed to injuries in hospital.
Initial investigations had suggested that Zaman had to pay back a debt to the anchorperson. It is also believed that the alleged killer had threatened him with dire consequences.
Zaman had called the victim to a cafe in a posh area of Defence in Karachi and shot him and his friend.
