ATC sentences 17-years-imprisonment to convict

Hashu used to rob people at gun-point in several areas of Karachi.

KARACHI (Web Desk) - An Anti-Terrorism Court of Pakistan (ATC) sentenced a man to 17 years jail on the charges of attempted murder. ATC also imposed a heavy fine of RS/- 150,000 on Ashraf alias Hashu.

ATC ordered that Hashu will spend 18 more months in jail in case of not clearing his imposed fine. He’s charged with theft. He used to rob people with the force of gun in several areas of Karachi.

Three witnesses testified against the convict in the court. His accomplice, identified as Mubeen, has already been proclaimed offender by the ATC.

Hashu was arrested on October 18 in the police encounter.

Few weeks ago, ATC sentenced death to a murder convict who was detained five years ago by the Pakistan Rangers.

The convict was awarded death sentence in the light of evidences furnished by Pakistan Rangers.

Al-Qaeda’s terror outfit Sohail Ahmed Siddiqui killed two foreigners and took other illegal activities like bomb blasts as well. His family was directed to pay RS/- 200,000 as the imposed fine.

Siddiqui was sentenced seven-year imprisonment due to illicit possession of guns and bombs. He was arrested from North Nazimabad in 2014 by Pakistan Rangers.

The paramilitary forces have been detaining several hardened terrorists for years especially after the crackdown operations couple years ago.
