Karachi mayor, Kh Izhar visit slain medical student's house for condolences
The leaders expressed grief over the death of the girl and assured full cooperation in the probe.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khawaja Izhar on Saturday visited house of slain medical student Nimra who lost her life during alleged police encounter with robbers at Anda Mor.
The leaders expressed grief over the death of the girl and assured full cooperation in the probe.
On the other hand, the investigation team arrived at the crime scene and collected evidence.
The incident occurred near Anda Mor where the girl was going in a rickshaw. Dacoits riding a motorcycle supposedly tried to stop the vehicle and looted the 20-year-old student.
Eye witnesses said that Nimra showed resistance to the robbery bid and shouted.
A police party nearby rushed to the spot upon which the dacoits opened fire at them. The law enforcers retaliated and arrested both dacoits in injured condition. They were shifted to hospital where one of them, identified as Riaz, succumbed to his injuries while the other was admitted in ICU in critical condition.
However; the family of the victim has claimed that the girl was killed by police fire. They have demanded a fair probe into the incident.
Moreover, the IG had also formed an investigation committee headed by DIG CIA Arif Hanif.
