Sale of smuggled Iranian petrol rampant in Balochistan
The prevention of such an illegal business is still a demand today.
QUETTA (Dunya News) – The sale of smuggled Iranian petrol and diesel has spiked in the Balochistan province as it is being done commonly on daily basis.
The smuggled fuel reaches through Taftan, Mand and Gwadar to Balochistan from the Pak-Iran border. From there it is smuggled to interior Sindh and Punjab in containers, oil tankers and buses.
The prevention of such an illegal business is still a demand today.
The sale of petrol and diesel go unchecked on illegal petrol pumps.
Incidents of fire eruption have also occurred on such petrol pumps several times but the relevant authorities have failed to curb the smuggling process.
The vehicles used for smuggling the oil are a danger for the public as they can cause a major tragedy anytime.
On Tuesday, at least 27 people lost their lives in a truck-bus collision in Balochistan’s Hub.
The ill-fated bus was on its way to Panjgur from Karachi. Sources say that the bus caught fire due to Iranian diesel filled in its secret compartments for smuggling.
