Couple arrested for stealing car batteries to buy ice drug in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police on Thursday arrested a couple for stealing car batteries to buy ice drug in Karachi.
The couple has been identified as Ali and Salma Zehra.
“A married couple has been arrested. Police has recovered a car stolen from Gizri on December 20. Besides this we have also found batteries and woofers which they used to steal and sell at various places to buy Ice,” said acting SP Clifton Suhai Aziz.
She told that Salma Zehra worked as a newscaster in a regional news channel whereas the husband was also a media professional.
Both had a love marriage but became victim of ice drug.
“The girl is a graduate of Karachi University and had remained a news anchor in three channels. The boy had completed intermediate level education and worked in media. Both married three years back out of love. They also have a 17-month-old daughter,” the SP told media.
“In order to fulfill their drug need, they used to steal cars from Defence and Clifton areas and sell their batteries and sound system," she added.
After the press conference, Salma pleaded not guilty saying that she should not be punished if her husband had committed the crime.
