Man jailed for 24 years over acid attack in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A man has been jailed for 24 years and fined Rs1.5 million for throwing a corrosive substance at a woman in 2017.

The verdict was announced by a special anti-terrorism court judge Muhammad Asghar Khan.

Convict Mubashir was sentenced to 14 years in jail and fined Rs1 million, while he was also handed 10 years in jail and fined Rs500,000 under ATA section.

According to the court orders, both sentences would be implemented simultaneously and in case of failing to pay fine his sentence would be increased one more year.

On the other hand, the court released the other two accused Anwar Hussain and Khurram Shahzad in the case.
