Toxic lassi case: Asiya Bibi sentenced to life in prison for killing 16 of family
The woman had been forced by her family into an arranged marriage.
MUZAFFARGARH (Dunya News) – A special anti-terrorism court in Muzaffargarh has on Thursday awarded 15 life-sentences apiece to Asiya Bibi and his alleged lover Muhammad Shahid in notorious case pertaining to killing of 16 members of same family with poisoned lassi.
The court also slapped fine of Rs3 million. The court acquitted Asia’s aunt Zareena Bibi over benefit of doubt.

Back then in October 2017, Asiya Bibi had mixed poison into her husband Amjad’s milk but he initially failed to drink it and it was instead blended into a batch of yoghurt-based lassi and served to the whole ill-fated family. A total of 27 people were affected, of which 16 were killed, including seven women and a child.
