Cyber attacks: Companies forced to spend $12 million annually for safety

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Increasing cyber attacks around the world has raised the apprehensions of companies as they are forced to spend an average of $12 million annually for their safety.

It seems impossible to trace the group behind the crime and the money that went missing from ones account.

Every company in the world faces at least 130 cyber attacks annually. United States, Japan, Australia and Germany top the list of the targeted countries.

Most of the attacks take place in financial institutions and energy sectors.

One year back, the companies were spending average $9 million to secure their systems however; the amount has now taken the toll to $12 million.

During the past five years, the companies’ expenditure has increased by 60 percent due to the cyber attacks.

According to an international journal, US companies are paying out $21 million annually while in Germany the cost is $11 million. Meanwhile, companies in Japan and Australia are spending $10 million and $5 million per year respectively.
