LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday has thrown away bail plea of alleged criminal in illegal gateway exchange case.
Justice Irum Sajjad Gul held hearing of the case.
Alleged criminal claimed innocence and said that the federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a bogus case. However, FIA’s officer said that the accused was caught running an illegal gateway exchange.
The judge remarked that illegal gateways are serious offence as they are threat to security. She said that unlawful gateways pose threat to national treasures. There is no record of grey calls made through the unregistered gateways.
Call made through unidentified routers could not be monitored or traced, she added. Justice Irum said that maintaining illegal gateways exchange is an non-bailable offence under electronic transaction ordinance.
Earlier on October 16, 2014, a case was registered against Shahzad Asghar Gondal in FIA’s cyber crime branch. Following the incident in 2014, the FIA arrested another felon in Sialkot on complaint of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PAT) for the same offence.
