LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the details of revenue generated through recently held Champions Trophy.

PCB Chairman’s Advisor Amir Mir and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza addressed a press conference in Lahore on Thursday and termed the tournament a huge success.

“The Indian media is doing fake propaganda over the Champions Trophy contrary to the facts,” said Amir Mir.

He added that the PCB generated the revenue even beyond the expectations.

He said that the PCB was earlier expecting the revenue of Rs2 billion but we collected Rs3 billion through the tournament.

Amir Mir said that all the expenses were provided by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

He added that the PCB’s financial position is improving with every passing day.

He praised the successful execution of the Champions Trophy, with all major teams playing in Pakistan.

He credited PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for taking on the challenging task of upgrading the grounds.

PCB’s CFO Javed Murtaza said that the PCB did not suffer any financial loss.

He said that PCB reported a profit of Rs10 billion during the fiscal year of 2023-24.

Earlier, the ICC had congratulated the PCB on the successful hosting of the Champions Trophy.

The ICC Chief Executive had praised everyone involved in organising the tournament, highlighting the impressive stadium renovations, pitch preparations, and overall management.

The Champions Trophy took place from February 19 to March 9, marking Pakistan’s first time hosting a global cricket event since 1996. Matches were held in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai.
