Board officials have chosen to ignore the backlash and persist in testing new talent
LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan Cricket Board officials have decided to remain unfazed by continuous defeats, agreeing to continue providing opportunities to young players without succumbing to criticism or pressure.
Despite poor performances from youngsters, board officials have chosen to ignore the backlash and persist in testing new talent.
Sources indicated that a meeting in Lahore reviewed the national team’s performance, where participants acknowledged Pakistan’s lag in modern cricket. They emphasised that T20 opportunities should be given to young players who excel in fielding and play fearlessly.
This approach led to the inclusion of new players in the New Zealand tour. Although they have yet to perform, the board believes they deserve consistent chances. It was noted that Saim Ayub proved his talent after multiple opportunities, and the same strategy should be applied to other young players.
Officials agreed that they would not revert to old policies due to recent losses. If this new policy continues, Pakistan could have a strong team by the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Sources further revealed that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had recently instructed the International Cricket Department to schedule overseas tours for the Shaheens and U-19 teams. The implementation of these plans is already in progress.
