LAHORE (Dunya News) – The newly-appointed Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Rameez Raja has announced that Australia’s Matthew Hayden and South Africa’s Vernon Philander will join the coaching staff of national cricket team during the T20 World Cup.

Addressing a press conference after being elected as the PCB chief, Rameez Raja said that the Australian coach can bring some aggression into the team. He said Matthew has experience of World Cups and is a world-class player himself. “Having an Australian in the dressing room will be of great benefit for us,” he added.

Commenting on the selection of Philander, Raja said, “I know him well, he understands the nuances of bowling and he has a great record in Australia.”

Hayden and Philander will be taking over the coaching roles from Misbah ul Haq and Waqar Younis, who resigned from their posts one month ahead of the tournament.

Earlier this month, Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis announced their resignations while former Pakistan Test players, Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq were appointed interim coaches for the time being.
