KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed on Sunday has admitted that the team didn’t play well against Australia and India in World Cup 2019.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Sarfaraz said that he is satisfied with the performance of team in WC’s last four matches, revealing that a proper consultative meeting was held with players after defeat by India.

We were aware of the low run rate and tried to overcome it but unfortunately, we couldn’t win the match with big margin, he added.

Sarfaraz said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman selected me as skipper, now it’s up to him if he wants to replace me. The players who participated in the mega event from Pakistan side were of my choice, he told.

Responding to a question, Sarfaraz said that he was having full support from Coach Mickey Arthur and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and that he wanted to perform with winning combination that’s why Shoaib Malik didn’t get chance to play in the last match.

We tried not to bring changes in the team to maintain the high morale of the players. Fakhar Zaman struggled hard to show his performance, he continued.

The skipper said that best team will clinch the title of World Cup champions.
