KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhtar does not see Pakistan lifting the World Cup 2019 as he thinks hosts England are going to win the tournament, Roznama Dunya reported on Thursday.
Shoaib Akhtar maintained that England had a reputation of not being a serious ODI team in the past, but they are the favorites to win the title this time. England have a very balanced squad despite some issues in the bowling department, he added.
The world’s fastest bowler said Pakistan are strong contenders for the semifinals, and senior players will have to make their presence felt as it might be their last appearance in a World Cup.
Let it be known that Pakistan had won the World Cup in 1992 under the leadership of Imran Khan, who is the current prime minister of the country.
