Indian cricketers term Pakistan favourite team in Asia Cup

DUBAI (Dunya News) – Former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar has on Wednesday termed Pakistan as favourite team in Asia Cup 2018.
During an interview, the player said that Pakistan can clinch the Asia Cup title as they have been playing in the United Arab Emirates regularly.
Pakistan have begun their Asia Cup campaign beating Hong Kong by eight wickets, he added.
On the other hand, Indian cricket great Sunil Gavaskar also picked Pakistan as favourites in Virat Kohli’s absence ahead of their Asia Cup group stage clash in Dubai.
“Pakistan is the favourite only because the big psychological advantage that they have of beating India in the final of the Champions Trophy,” said Gavaskar, a member of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning side.
“The previous game or the ball before… always stays at the back of your mind and that creates a touch of uncertainty in your mind.”
“And Virat’s absence is going to be crucial as well,” the former captain said.
It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan will take on arch-rivals India in the Asia Cup 2018 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium today (Wednesday).
Both India and Pakistan have already qualified for the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2018 from Group A.
Millions of fans, across the border and elsewhere in the world, will be watching the Group A clash between Pakistan and India, with a sold out 25,000-crowd expected at Dubai Stadium.
The game is also the first between the sub-continent rivals since Pakistan thumped India by 180 runs in the final of the Champions Trophy at The Oval in June last year.
The two teams are facing each other for the first time in the United Arab Emirates since 2006, the last of their regular matches which were also held in Sharjah between 1984 to 2000.
