PSL-3: Glitzy opening ceremony concluded at Dubai International Cricket Stadium

Ceremony is underway in Dubai.

DUBAI (Dunya News) –Glitzy opening ceremony for third installment of Pakistan Super League (PSL-3) has concluded at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

A-listers from showbiz industries of Pakistan and USA have descended upon to put forward their best performances.

The ceremony kicked off with national anthem of Pakistan. Later, Ali Zafar and Sufi music legend Abida Parveen enthralled the audience with their wonderful performances. The newly included franchise of Multan Sultans was introduced in the onset followed by Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and reigning champions Peshawar Zalmi.



 



 



 



American pop star Jason Derulo, Sufi music legend Abida Parveen, Pakistani heart-throbs Ali Shehzad Roy, as well as movie stars Hareem Farooq and Bilal Ashraf also took to the centre stage at the PSL opening ceremony.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi also addressed the opening ceremony and declared flagship tournament as asset of the Pakistan. While apprising about number of matches played last year (24), Sethi added that a total of 34 matches would be played this year.

He urged whole nation to safeguard the tournament.

On the other hand, the beautiful city of Dubai has witnessed a rare traffic jam as cricket fans flocked to the stadium to catch the live action.



 


Final and playoffs



The final and playoffs of the tournament will be played in Karachi and Lahore respectively.

The league was launched in 2016 with a total of five franchises. This year, six teams will lock horns to claim the prestigious title.

Meanwhile, hashtag #PSL2018 is trending top on twitter in Pakistan.

The fever of cricket has engulfed even men in uniform as Director General Inter-Service Public Relations Major General Asif Ghafoor has wished good luck to Pakistan Cricket Board. Ghafoor took to popular microblogging website Twitter to post his message.
