(Dunya News) – A nightmare for every batsman during the 1990s, Pakistan cricket team’s former skipper, Waqar Younis, turns 46 today.

Born on November 16, 1971 in Vehari, the legendary fast bowler stepped in the cricketing field back in 1989. Owing to his brilliant bowling, Younis left his mark in the cricketing world for generations to come.

While no one matched Younis’s expertise to make an old ball swing, his combined bowling attack with Wasim Akram is still considered as one of the best in the world. Together the two Ws of Pakistan cricket made a name for themselves as honoured as the three Ws of West Indies cricket.

Younis’s destructive bowling achieved him titles like ‘toe crusher’ and ‘Burewala Express’.

Joining the commentary box following his retirement, Younis was appointed as a bowling coach for the Pakistan cricket team in 2006. He also served as the head coach of the team later.

Recently, Younis was appointed as the director of PSL’s Islamabad United.
