Summary PM Nawaz Sharif issued the grant and the Blind Cricket World Cup will be held in Sharjah next year
(Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given Rs. 20 million to the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) in order to host the Blind Cricket World Cup which is scheduled next year in Sharjah.
The Blind Cricket World Cup will start from January 10, 2018. Although the whole event will be hosted in Sharjah, the final match will be in Pakistan. While talking to APP, PBCC Chairman Syed Sultan Shah said, “A total of Rs 50 million is required to host the Blind Cricket World Cup and we have also requested Punjab government and our other sponsors for their support in this regard.”
The council is currently busy in making necessary arrangements for the world cup and gathering sponsors. Shah thanked the premier for his cooperation with the council. The selection committee is chaired by Syed Salman Bokhari. He, along with the members Ibrar Shah and Masood Jan, will select the Pakistan blind cricket team for the Blind Cricket World Cup.
Eight teams will participate in the international event. These include Australia, West Indies, South Africa, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. “These eight teams are full members of World Blind Cricket Ltd and they will participate in the Blind Cricket World Cup.”
Due to the security concerns, it was decided to host the Blind Cricket World Cup at a neutral venue. However, the officials said that the tournament final would be held in Pakistan. In 2017, the country successfully hosted the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
