Summary Batting first, Pakistan scored 338 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted overs

LONDON (Dunya News) – In one of the classic encounters of cricket history, Pakistan thumped India by 180 runs as the men in green clinched the title of ICC Champions Trophy 2017. 

At the end of the day, it was Pakistan that outclassed India in all departements of the game to bring home the mega ICC title. 

After being asked to bat first, Pakistan looked steady during the initial proceedings as both the openers were playing rather sensibly.

The first over by Kumar was a good one as he bowled a maiden to start things up for India.

Pakistan were 27 for no loss after the first five overs.



Pakistan were in a commanding position after twenty overs were bowled as it becomes the highest opening partnership for Pakistan in the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan were 114 for the loss of no wicket after twenty overs.



It was in twenty third over when Pakistan lost their wicket as a result of misunderstanding between Azhar and Fakhar. Azhar Ali got run out after he scored a good innings of 59 runs of 71 balls. In the next over, Fakhar once again decided to cut loose as he thumped Ashwin for a six and a boundary in the twenty seventh over.

A total of 33 runs came in two overs straight after the twenty fifth over.

Fakhar Zaman reached to his magnificent hundred in thirty first over as he became the only Pakistani batsman in Champions Trophy 2017 to score a hundred. It’s the first time Pakistan is playing the final of Champions Trophy.

Pakistan were 186 for the loss of one wicket after 31 overs.



Fakhar Zaman departed after scoring a brilliant knock of 114 runs of 106 balls that included three sixes and 12 boundaries. Well Played Fakhar!

Zaman’s brilliant knock put Pakistan in commanding position as he removed the pressure while at the same time provide an oppurtunity to rest of the batsman to put a big total on the board.

Pakistan were 227 for the loss of two wickets after 37 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was introduced to the attack as he fill in the expectations of the captain and removed Shoaib Malik who was caught by Jadhav after scoring 12 runs.



Pakistan were 247 for the loss of three wickets after 40 overs.

It was in the forty fifth over when Imad decided to cut loose as he thumped Jadhav for two sixes and which resulted in fetching 16 runs of the over.

Kumar also went for a six in the next over as Hafeez thumped him down the ground in the next over.

Muhammad Hafeez pummeled one away for a maximum in the last over as nine runs came of Kumar’s last over.

Pakistan managed to score 338 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted overs.

While chasing down a mammoth target of 339 runs to win, India seemed to have lost the plot from the very outset as the batting line completely collapsed while reaching while they hardly reach fifty runs. It was the dangerous Amir who turned out to be Oval’s nightmare for the Indian team. The left-arm pacer removed Rohit Sharma in the very first over of the innings as he was trapped plumb in front of the stumps.

In his second over, one of the dangerous bowlers in today’s cricket gave some hard time to the dangerous batsman in the World.

First, an edge of his bat flew to Azhar who dropped an easy catch while of the very next ball, Kohli gave away a catch straight to point to put India in trouble.



After two amazing overs by Amir, India were seven for the loss of two wickets.

It was the brilliant Amir who put India in deep deep trouble by removing Dhawan who was caught by the skipper after scoring 21 runs. India were 47 for the loss of three wickets after 10 overs.

Shadab was introduced to the attack in the thirteen over as he removed the brilliant Youraj while getting him trapped leg before wicket.

In the very next over, Hasan Ali got the wicket of Dhoni as he was caught by Imad in an effort to pull a short ball. Indian batting line completely collapsed as half of their team was back in the pavilion when the score was 54.


 


Jhadav hit a brilliant shot towards the boundary of the bowling of Hasan Ali however was caught by Sarfraz as the ball edged off his bat and flew in the air to fell safely in skipper’s gloves.

India were 80 for the loss of six wickets after 18 overs.

Pandya in an effort to build the innings after the huge collapse turned on his aggressive mode as he thumped Shadab for three sixes and a four in the twenty third over.



The dangerous Pandya seemed to be in mood to reshape the innings however his brilliant knock was thwarted by the misunderstanding of running between the wicket as he got run out after scoring 76 runs of 43 balls.

India were 154 for the loss of seven wickets after 27 overs.

Junaid was introduced to the attack as he removed Jadeja who was caught by Babar Azam after he scored 15 runs.

Frustrations continued for India after Hardik Pandya loss as Ashwin also departed after scoring just 1 run while being caught by the skipper of the bowling of Hasan Ali.

The last wicket fell in the shape of Bumrah departing for just one run as Hasan Ali took another wicket while finishing as the highest wicket taker of the tournament.

Pakistan knocked India by 180 runs in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
