Lahore: Peshawar Zalmi organizes one-day Girls Cricket Camp
Total 40 female cricketers from Lahore and Peshawar attended the camp.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Peshawar Zalmi Foundation, with an aim to promote and work for women empowerment, organized a one-day Girls Cricket Camp at Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) National Cricket Academy (NCA) with support of PCB and US consulate Lahore.
Total 40 female cricketers from Lahore and Peshawar enjoyed great learning day at NCA Lahore under the guidance of cricket experts and coaches of PCB. Chairman Peshawar Zalmi and Peshawar Zalmi Foundation Mr Javed Afridi appreciated the girls from Lahore and Peshawar for taking part in the camp, and assured more activities in future for women sports.
Javed Afridi said, “We have decided to spend 30% of our income from Peshawar Zalmi to Peshwar Zalmi Foundation, and will do our best to bring back smiles. Youth and women empowerment are our main focus, we will organize more camps, tournaments and activities for women and sports.”
U.S. Consul General Yuriy Fedkiw also praised the camp activities and said, “It is good to see Girls Cricket Camp organized with the help of PCB and Peshawar Zalmi Foundation. Such activities will spread the culture of engaging more girls into sports. I also like to congratulate Mr Javed Afridi and his foundation for helping girls to build their passion, and to give them a chance to polish their skills under best professionals.”
NCA coach and former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed appreciated the efforts of Peshawar Zalmi Chairman Javed Afridi in promotion of sports. He said, “Peshawar Zalmi and Javed Afridi are working for betterment of sports. Their efforts to organize activities for youth and women empowerment are like an example for other franchises.”
Along PCB coaches, star cricketers Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez and Bilawal Bhatti also gave valuable coaching tips to the girls.
