A dramatic start at Queen’s Park was what the fans were most desperately looking forward to and Narine’s first over provided them with the essentials in this regard.
Narine started of the proceedings with a loose delivery that was swept away for a boundary by Ahmad Shehzad. However, two consecutive wickets of the next two balls put Pakistan in pressure.
First it was Ahmad Shehzad who was cleaned up by Narine on the second delivery while on the third delivery, Imad Wasim was stumped by Walton as he was completely unable to read the ball and was beaten by the swing.
Hence, a total of five runs and two wickets came of the first over.
Meanwhile, Kamran in an effort to remove the pressure thumped Holder for a boundary in the second over as seven runs were scored of the second over.
On the second ball of the third over, Kamran swept really well as he managed to fetch four runs in the process. The score reached 19 at the end of three over.
William was introduced in the fourth over as he Babar Azam played a risky pull-short for four more on the penultimate ball.
A comparatively good over from skipper Brathwaite was spoiled by Babar who fetched four runs while playing a brilliant shot towards midwicket boundary. The score was 32 after 5 overs.
Kamran took the charge in the sixth over as he pummeled Holder for a towering six over deep mid-wicket.
A short ball on the last delivery by Narine gave an opportunity to Kamran who thumped the ball for a four more towards mid-wicket.
Meanwhile, fifty partnerships came between the cousins who build up the innings after the early the collapse. Babar Azam fetched four runs as he hit a boundary of the last ball of Narine’s over.
Badree came to bowl his last over and delievered brilliantly as just three runs came off the ninth over.
A certain boundary was saved by Jason Muhammad as Kamran played a brilliant short towards cover. A six immediately followed by a boundary helped Kamran to fetch 14 runs of the tenth over. At half-way stage, Pakistan were 76 for the loss of two wickets.
