Summary Karachi Kings will face Peshawar Zalmi for a place in the final now
SHARJAH (Dunya News) - Karachi Kings defeated Islamabad United by 44 runs to go through to the second qualifier of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), reported Dunya News.
Defending champions, Islamabad s captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to field first. Highest scorer of the tournament, Babar Azam scored 25 runs and had an opening wicket partnership of 42 runs with Chris Gayle, who scored 17 runs. Both of them got out off consecutive deliveries.
Kumara Sangakkara and Shoaib Malik had a partnership of 34 runs and added 17 and 25 respectively. Karachi lost their fourth wicket for 100 runs but then lost last 6 wickets for just 26 runs, as they were bowled out for 126.
Rumman Raees got four wickets whereas Shane Watson and Muhammad Sami got two wickets each. Emerging spinner Shadab Khan was also able to take 1 wicket.
Islamabad were relying on their highest scorer Dwayne Smith, who was dismissed by Muhammad Amir, as Sangakkara took an amazing catch to dismiss him. Brad Haddin was bowled by Amir for a duck.
Captain Misbah and Asif Ali had a partnership of 35 runs as they scored 13 and 39 respectively. Apart from them, none of them scored in double figures as Islamabad were bowled out for 82 runs. Usama Mir, Amir and Imad Wasim got three wickets each whereas Sohail Khan got one.
Karachi will take on Peshawar Zalmi for a place in the final now.
