Summary International bookmakers had started the spot-fixing conspiracy against PSL in September 2016.

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – Opener of Islamabad United Sharjeel Khan’s spot-fixing details have begun to unfold along with international conspiracies behind Pakistan Super League (PSL) match-fixing scandal, reported Kamran Khan in his program Dunya Kamran Khan kay Sath.

The host revealed that international bookmakers had started the spot-fixing conspiracy against PSL in September 2016 when bookie Yousuf was sent to England to make friendship with Pakistan batsman Nasir Jamshed.

When Pakistan team toured England, Nasir Jamshed arranged meetings of Yousuf and Sharjeel Khan. The bookie not only gave cash to Sharjeel Khan, but also paid shopping bills in England.

Nasir Jamshed later asked Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif to meet his friend Yousuf in Dubai during the ongoing PSL. Both of them met the bookie and agreed to do spot-fixing.

It has been revealed that Sharjeel Khan used yellow grip on his bat in the opening match of second edition of PSL. The grip was given to him by Yousuf and its purpose was to make it clear to the bookie that Sharjeel is going to do spot-fixing in this particular match.

Furthermore, Sharjeel made specific movements with his bat to indicate that he will now play the planned two dot balls, and lifted his bat in air afterwards. All these signs were to help the bookie who had given five lac rupees to Sharjeel Khan for these dot balls.

Khalid Latif had also made a deal with this bookmaker but he could not complete his deal as he was not picked up in the playing eleven. The sources say that both these players had committed deals worth millions of rupees for the whole tournament.

Khalid Latif had later asked PCB to become approver in a video statement and help to trace Yousuf and his network if PCB does not take action against him, but his offer was rejected straight away.

Kamran Khan said in his comments that terrorism is not a threat for Pakistan cricket at the moment, but match-mixing is. The host further said that these players have been caught but there are still some cricketers who are hiding, and they need to be captured as well.

Nasir Jamshed and bookie Yousuf have been arrested in England by National Crime Agency over allegations of bribery. They were bailed out by police till April after conducting a long session of investigation, however, both can be summoned anytime for further interrogation.
