New Zealand captain Kane Williamson decided to bat first and told that their experienced opener Martin Guptill was not playing due to injury. Dean Brownlie came in place of him.
Australia also made a change to their side as Sam Heazlett was left out and Adam Zampa replaced him. Australia lead the 3-match ODI series 1-0 as they had won the first game and second game was washed out due to rain.
