Summary England lead the five match series by 2-0, elected to bat first after winning the toss

NOTTINGHAM (Web Desk) – England finished their first innings at a total of 444 runs at a loss of 3 wickets, scoring the highest number of runs in a one-day game.

English skipper Eoin Morgan decided to bat first against Pakistan after winning the toss of the third one-day international being played at Trent Bridge.

Middle-order batsman Imad Wasim has been replaced by spinner Mohammad Nawaz for the third one-day. Jason Roy was dismissed early on the innings whereas rest of the English batters hammered the Pakistani bowlers to all parts of the ground. Alex Hales scored a magnificent knock of 171 runs, Jos Buttler scored 90 not out, Joe Root scored 85 runs whereas skipper Morgan made 57 runs and was not out.

Hasan Ali bagged two wickets for the Men in Green whereas Nawaz was able to pick one wicket.

Men in Green were defeated by a margin of 4 wickets in the previous one-day match played at Lord s despite Sarfraz Ahmed s ton as the hosts lead the five match ODI series by 2-0.

Pakistan innings

Pakistan lost their first wicket in the fourth over when Sami Aslam was dismissed after scoring 8 runs. Sharjeel Khan caused some resistance and scored 58 runs off 30 balls but he also went back to pavillion after being caught on boundary.

Azhar Ali added 13 runs whereas Babar Azam scored 9. Shoaib Malik could contributed just one run as Pakistan lost half of the side for 108 runs.

England innings

England finally finish their innings at a record 444 for the loss of 3 wickets as skipper Eoin Morgan along with middle order batsman Jos Buttler showed absolute class in their batting and smashed the Pakistani bowlers all around the park. A total of 16 sixes were hit in the innings along with 43 fours whereas running between the wickets was also exceptional. Tough ask for the Men in Green as they ll have to chase a record total to keep the series alive and create history.

Alex Hales and Joe Root continued to thrash Pakistani bowlers across the ground as Hales scored a magnificent century and continued rotating the strike and scoring boundaries after regular intervals. Pakistani batsmen will have to chase something well beyond 300 keeping in consideration Root s and Hales  hammering as the latter was finally dismissed after he made history by scoring the highest individual score for England in ODIs (171)

England 281/2 after 37 overs.

After losing opener Jason Roy with 33 runs on the board, English middle-order batsman Joe Root along with Alex Hales continued piling runs for the hosts as they were able to put a hundred runs on the board after 18 overs into the first innings. Pakistani bowlers, pacers as well as spinners, seemed to have no idea about how to deal with the two in-form English batters as their strike rotation and running between the wickets has been exceptional.

At this rate, England may easily set a total of above 300 for Pakistan. England 110/1 after 19 overs.
