Pakistan was able to beat England at Lord's after 20 years

LONDON (Dunya News) – Pakistan on Sunday defeated England by 75 runs in the first Test match of the four-match series that was played at Lord’s, reported Dunya News.

Pakistani skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq, after winning the toss decided to bat first. Pakistan posted a total of 339 runs in the 1st innings. Misbah remained the top-scorer with 114 runs whereas Chris Woakes took 6 wickets for England.

The host team was bowled out for a total of 272 runs on the third day of the game in the first innings. England captain Alastair Cook was the top-scorer for his side with an individual score of 81 runs. Yasir Shah made the English batsmen struggle at the crease with his magnificent spin-bowling as he was able to take 6 wickets in the 1st innings.

Pakistan, after having a lead of 67 runs, were able to make another 215 runs hence giving England a total of 283 runs to win the match. With an individual total of 49 runs, Asad Shafiq was the top-scorer for Pakistan whereas Woakes again was the leading wicket-taker for England with a 5-for in the second innings.

England was bowled out for a total of 207 in the second innings of the match. Jonny Bairstow was the top-scorer for England with a score of 48 runs. Yasir Shah was yet again the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan with a total of 4 wickets in the second innings whereas Rahat Ali picked 3 wickets. Mohammad Amir bowled out 2 players. Pakistan won the match with a total of 75 runs.

Yasir took 10 wickets in the match and became the first ever Asian bowler to achieve the feat at Lord s. Yasir Shah was also named as the Man of the Match.

While talking in the post-match presentation, Misbah-ul-Haq dedicated the victory to late humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi.

The second Test match of the series will be played on July 22, at Old Trafford, Manchester.
