How can Pakistan qualify for semi finals?

Dunya News

If Pakistan beat Australia with good margin and Australia beat India then Pakistan is through.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – World T20 2016 is underway in India and Pakistan is still on the edge like recent World T20 which was held in 2014.

After a perfect start to the biggest tournament of T20 cricket, Pakistan team failed to capitalize on it and lost two important matches later on. It seems that luck is not with the men in green this time.

Now Pakistan is at No 3 position with the net run-rate (NRR) of +0.254 while New Zealand and India are at the top with the NRR of +1.28 and -0.546 respectively. Now the question is how Pakistan can qualify for semis as they have lost their matches against New Zealand and India.

Once again the fate of Pakistan in the World T20 is depending on other teams. Pakistan and India have one match left each and both have to play this game against Australia. This means that Australia has two matches left. Here is the equation.

If Australia beat Pakistan and India then Australia is through to the semis.

If Pakistan beat Australia and later Australia beat India with a big margin then Australia is into the semis.

If Pakistan beat Australia and India beat Australia then India is through.

If Pakistan beat Australia and India beat Australia with good margin then India will make it to the semi-finals.

If Pakistan beat Australia with good margin and Australia beat India then Pakistan is through.

Luckily Pakistan has better NRR than India and Australia currently. We can only hope that things go the right way to get Pakistan through to the semis, just as they went in 1992 World Cup.
