PSL T20: United slams Qalandars, win comprehensively by 8 wickets

Islamabad United won by 8 wickets

SHARJAH (Web Desk) - Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars by 8 wickets in the 9th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 on Wednesday. 

The 9th match of PSL T20 was played between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United in Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Lahore Qalandars were led by Azhar Ali and Islamabad United by Shane Watson. Islamabad United won the toss and opted to field first. 

Lahore Qalandars started off steadily but faced first dismissal of Delport in the beginning. Azhar Ali tried to charge but lost his wicket. Qalandars still managed to keep the score board rolling. Umer Akmal also failed to take off and lost his wicket. It was Muhammad Rizwan who rescued Qalandars innings with his class stroke play. Qalandars were successful in achieving a total of 166 with a loss of 6 wickets.

Openers Sharjeel Khan and Shane Watson thrashed Lahore Qalandars  bowlers with their master stroke play leading Islamabad United to a victory of 8 wickets. Lahore Qalandars were never in the game and their bowlers could not manage to take any wicket on time.

Overs 15.5: Sharjeel Khan finishes the match with a flat six. Islamabad United wins by 8 wickets with 4.1 overs to spare. 

Overs 15.1: Ehsan Adil to  Andre Russell, Out!! Slow one and Russell tried to muscle it out of the ground. Umer Akmal took an easy catch. United at 157/2.

Overs 13.4: Watson goes. Ehsan Adil takes the wicket but very late as Watson has done his job. United at 153/1.

Overs 12: Watson on fire! Zohaib drops an easy catch of Watson and he does not wastes this gift, goes for three sixes and a four in the innings. United at 143/0.

Overs 11: Sharjeel and Watson s master score play continues. Both complete their fifites. Highest first wicket partenership of the tournament continues. United on top. United at 119.

Overs 8: United racing towards the target as Shane Watson and Sharjeel Khan continues their master stroke play. United 74/0.

Overs 6: United used the mandatory power play at its best. United at 58/0. 

Overs 3: Islamabad United moving forward steadily without losing any wicket. United at 24/0.

Overs 1: Islamabad off to a stong start as Watson/Sharjeel starts innings with 14 runs in the first over. United at 14/0.

Lahore Qalandars Innings

 

Overs 20: Qalandars finish off with a good looking target of 166/6. 

Overs 19.4: It s gone miles high, would take months to come back.... Raees takes an excellent catch dismissing Rizwan. Qalandars at 163/6. 

Overs 18.3: RUNOUT!! Bravo goes. Direct hit does the job. Qalandars at 149/5. 

Overs 18.2: In the air, does not got enough hold on it but it lands safe for four runs. Qalandars 149/4.

Overs 17.2: It s FOUR again!!! Rizwan playing gem of an innnings. Qalandars at 140/4.

Overs 16.3: First a six, then slice towards cover and now the scoop. Rizwan showing his class. Qalandars on top. Qallandars at 133/4.

Overs 16.2: Its delicate, Rizwan slices towards cover boundary. Qalandars looking to end the innings on high. Qalandars at 129/4. 


Overs 12.3: OUT!! Umer Akmal undone by the beauty of Imran Khalid. Qalandars at 89/4.

Overs 11.4: Ajmal does it again!! Ajmal s ball was too good to cut, Yasin caught behind the wicket. Qalandars at 87/3.

Overs 11.1: Umer Akmal goes for six against Ajmal. Ajmal gave full and flighted ball, Umer Akmal makes no mistake in clearing the fence. Qalandars at 86/2.

Overs 10: Ajmal s class bowling skills stops Umer Akmal going towards the fence. Qalandars at 73/2.

Overs 9: It s a SIX, Umer Akmal finishes Watson s over in style. Qalandars at 69/2.

Overs 6: Azhar Ali gone!! Muhammad Sami takes the wicket, LBW out. Just when Azhar Ali started looking dangerous he departs. Qalandars at 46/2.

Overs 5: Skipper Azhar Ali and Naved Yasin steadily taking Qalandars   innings forward. Qalandars at 36/1

Overs 2.1: Bowled him!!! Delport bowled by Muhammad Sami. Sami takes wicket on first ball. Qalandars at 20/1.
