Summary Sri Lanka swept the preceding Test series 2-0.

COLOMBO (AFP) - Bad weather delayed the start of the first one-day international between Sri Lanka and the West Indies in Colombo on Sunday.

The outfield and the pitch at the Premadasa stadium were covered at the scheduled toss time of 2 pm (0830 GMT) as persistent rain drenched the Sri Lankan capital.

More rain has been forecast for the rest of the evening.

Sri Lanka swept the preceding Test series 2-0. The three one-dayers will be followed by two Twenty20 games.
