DUBAI (Dunya News) – International Cricket Council (ICC) announced 8 teams participating in Champions Trophy on Wednesday. Pakistan, ranked 8th in ICC, will take part in the tournament, reported Dunya News.
ICC’s deadline for selecting the teams for the tournament ended today on September 30. ICC has confirmed 8 teams that will be taking part in Champions Trophy. Host England has qualified automatically for the event.
Former champions West Indies are out of the event due to 9th position in the rankings. Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and New Zealand have qualified for the Champions Trophy. Pakistan became eligible to play in the Champions Trophy after winning two ODIs in the series against Sri Lanka.
The national team is currently ranked 8th. The tournament will be played in England from June 18 next year. Bangladesh will take part in Champions Trophy for the first time since 2006. India will defend its title in the event.
