Summary England captain said Joe Root had been banned from celebrating team’s win at Walkabout bar.

BIRMINGHAM (AFP) - England captain Alastair Cook said Joe Root had been banned from celebrating the team s eight-wicket win in the third Ashes Test at Birmingham s Walkabout bar.

Root, who made 38 not out on Friday, was punched by Australia opener David Warner in the Aussie-themed venue after England beat their arch-rivals at Edgbaston during the 2013 Champions Trophy one-day tournament.

Asked whether Root and Warner might meet up at the Walkabout again after a win that gave England a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, a smiling Cook said: "The one thing (about our celebrations) is Joe Root is banned from going to Walkabout."

England paceman Stuart Broad echoed the theme by posting on Twitter a picture of Root in the home dressing room at Edgbaston, complete with the caption: "Don t worry people, I ll keep him out the Walkabout tonight."
