Summary Zimbabwe team departed for their country while hoping best for Pakistan.

(Web Desk) - Zimbabwe cricket team left Pakistan on Monday after playing the series of two T20s and three One-Day Internationals (ODI) at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Dunya News reported.

The revival of international cricket in Pakistan was only made possible by the visit of Zimbabwe team who arrived in Pakistan on May 19 to swing in the series. Although the team lost all the matches but the players departed for their country with loads of respect showered upon the by the cricket-lovers in Pakistan.

A top Zimbabwe cricket official expressed delight in contributing to the revival of international cricket in Pakistan after a six-year hiatus, hoping it will open the doors of more international cricket for their hosts.

Zimbabwe became the first Test team to tour Pakistan since terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in March 2009, an incident that had caused suspension of all forms of international cricket in the country.

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Managing Director Alistair Campbell said that his country decided to play two Twenty20 and three ODIs after approval from their intelligence department.

The matches were played under massive security with 4,000 policemen guarding the stadium and another 2,000 deployed on the route from the team hotel to the venue.

Security has been ratcheted up to avoid a repeat of the 2009 attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus, which claimed eight lives and cast Pakistan into sporting exile for six years.
