Younis Khan slams PCB after being sidelined

Summary My fault is that I made no prior calls to the selectors before the selection, says Khan.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – After being sidelined by the selection committee for One-day team squad, former captain Younis Khan while talking to the media at the National Stadium Karachi said his fault is that he made no prior contact to the selectors.

He said he has always given preference to the country but after serving the team for 14 to 15 years he is being treated unjustly.
I always have and still am determined to play respectfully, he said.

He said he should have been informed on Pakistan’s series against Sri Lanka that he would not be selected for the team and that was his last series.

Younis Khan stated the way he is being sacked; no young player would take the initiative to play in future.

I can’t shoot myself if I am not selected for the team, he added.

He further stated that his fault is that he made Pakistan win the World Cup in 2009 in critical situation.

First they humiliated me and later they expect that I would play Test series; this would not happen, he remarked.

He blamed that the ones who had planned to cast me out of the team were against Misbaul Haq, Muhammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi during my captaincy.

PCB’s Response

On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now reviewing Younis Khan’s statement.

PBC said that Younis Khan has been constantly violating the contract as he has already been told numerous times to avoid giving any statements on the media.
