Summary The group winners automatically qualify for the 2014 World Twenty20.
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi has set his side the target of winning the World Twenty20 qualifying tournament which begins on Friday, and not just to be satisfied with a third-straight qualification.
Qualifying alone looks very achievable for Afghanistan, as six teams will get tickets for the 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
But Nabi says, "we need to look to win the tournament rather than just look to qualify."
Top seed Ireland is in Group A with Namibia, Canada, Uganda, the United States, Italy, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
Afghanistan is seeded second and its Group B includes the Netherlands, Scotland, Kenya, Bermuda, Denmark, Nepal and Papua New Guinea.
The group winners automatically qualify for the 2014 World Twenty20 and the remaining four places will be decided through play-offs.
