South Africa wins toss and sends Sri Lanka to bat

Summary Sri Lanka's Jehan Mubarak plays his first international in four years.


COLOMBO (AP) - South Africa captain AB de Villiers won the toss and sent Sri Lanka to bat first Saturday in the opening game of a five-match one-day series at R. Premadasa Stadium.

 

The visitors are encouraged by the return of pace bowler Morne Morkel, who was in doubt because of injury. However his fast bowling partner Lonwabo Tsotsobe is out with an ankle injury.

 

Also missing in the South African lineup is opener Hashim Amla due to injury.

 

Dinesh Chandimal leads Sri Lanka for the first time as the country s youngest captain with regular skipper Angelo Mathews serving a two-match suspension for maintaining a slow over rate in the tri-series final against India in the Caribbean.
