Summary The petition prayed to court to declare Zakar Ashraf’s appointment as null and void.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday barred Zaka Ashraf from working as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman over an objection raised against his appointment.
IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui accepted a petition submitted by PCB regional member Ahmed Nadeem Suddle who stated in his plea that Pakistan Cricket Board elections were not held in a transparent manner.
He told court that Zaka Ashraf has been elected through unfair and non-transparent process.
On this, the court issued notice to the PCB chairman, barring him from further performing his duties.
The court also directed Zakar Ashraf to submit his reply within a week.
The PCB s 11-member board of governors earlier chose Ashraf after he was recommended by its four-member nomination committee.
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also the patron of the PCB, had shortlisted Ashraf and Aftab Ahmad Khan - a former chairman of Lahore Stock Exchange - for the post.
