LEEDS (AP) - England has calmly extended its lead to 429 runs against New Zealand by reaching lunch at 249-3 in its second innings on the fourth day of the second test at Headingley.


Captain Alastair Cook duly got his 25th test hundred and Jonathan Trott his 16th half century to keep up his test average as England on Monday batted on serenely from 116-1 overnight.


Cook, resuming on 88, was eventually out for 130 and Ian Bell followed soon after for 6 as both miscued spinner Kane Williamson, who has taken all three wickets on the flat pitch.


At lunch Jonathan Trott was 76 not out with Joe Root on 20.
