LEEDS (AP) - Steve Finn removed the New Zealand openers for one run in the space of 16 balls as the tourists lurched to lunch at 62-2 after bowling out England for 354 on the third morning of the second test at Headingley.

Peter Fulton and Hamish Rutherford showed immediate positive intent on Sunday against the same bowlers, James Anderson and Stuart Broad, who tore them apart for 68 only a week before at Lord s.

Fulton and Rutherford drove, slogged and tucked away the duo in compiling 55, following successive partnerships of 4, 5, and 1.

But on 28, Fulton miscued an attempted legside shot and gave a high catch straight back to Finn. Then moments before lunch, Rutherford, on 27, drove at Finn but sent a thick edge to Ian Bell at gully. Finn was 2-12.

Williamson was four not out and Ross Taylor nought not out after England fast bowler Steven Finn took two wickets for one run in 16 balls to remove openers Peter Fulton and Hamish Rutherford.

Earlier, left-arm quick Trent Boult took five wickets for 57 runs as England, 337 for seven overnight, saw their innings concluded in five overs on Sunday.

All of Boult s wickets came in a new-ball spell starting Saturday of five wickets for 24 runs in seven overs.

England s total featured Joe Root s maiden Test hundred. Root s 104 saw him become the first Yorkshire batsman to score his first century at this level on his Headingley home ground.

England lead the two-match series 1-0 after their 170-run win in the first Test at Lord s last week.
