BLOEMFONTEIN (AP) South Africa Sunday defeated Pakistan by 125 runs in the first one-day international at Chevrolet Park on Sunday to go 1-0 up in the five-match series.

South Africa 315-4 (Colin Ingram 105 not out, AB de Villiers 65, Hashim Amla 43, Farhaan Behardien 34 not out; Saeed Ajmal 2-53) def. Pakistan 190 all out in 36.2 overs (Misbah-ul-Haq 38, Shahid Afridi 34, Younis Khan 30; Rory Kleinveldt 4-22, Ryan McLaren 3-19) by 125 runs.


Colin Ingram smashed an unbeaten century and seamer Rory Kleinveldt had a career best 4-22 as South Africa defeated Pakistan by 125 runs in the first one-day international of the five-match series on Sunday.


Ingram s 105 off 104 balls was studded with 10 fours and formed the backbone of South Africa s total of 315-4. Pakistan s batting woes continued on the tour with Kleinveldt and Ryan McLaren (3-19) combining well to dismiss the visitors for 190 in 36.2 overs.


South Africa captain AB de Villiers also made a handy 65 off 63 balls and featured in the run-a-ball 120-run third wicket stand with Ingram, who reached his third ODI century in the last over of the innings.


The second match of the series will be played at Centurion on Friday.
