PAARL: James Franklin held his nerve with an unbeaten 47 to help New Zealand upset South Africa with a one-wicket victory in the first one-day international on Saturday.
The experienced all-rounder steered the lower order as the Black Caps made heavy work of chasing down South Africa s modest 208 all out in 46.2 overs. New Zealand won with 26 balls to spare.
Apart from BJ Watling (45), most New Zealand batsmen struggled with Ryan McLaren claiming career-best bowling figures of 4-46.
