Pakistan women will play their ICC Women s World Cup group matches in the eastern Indian state of Orissa, following threats from political activists in Mumbai. The World Cup, which starts on January 31, will now be played across two cities, instead of taking place only in Mumbai.
At the BCCI working committee meeting, board chief N Srinivasan had asked ICC to take a final call on the venue of the tournament, originally scheduled to be played entirely in Mumbai. ICC tournament director Suru Nayak spoke to the local police, who while promising security, expressed an apprehension of possible disruptions by the Shiv Sena.
