ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal government has appointed Justice (retd) Roohul Amin Khan as chairman of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC), according to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
The appointment has been made under Section 53 of the Industrial Relations Act, 2012, following a decision taken by the federal cabinet on September 5.
According to the notification, Justice (retd) Roohul Amin Khan has been appointed on a three-year contract with immediate effect. His tenure will commence from the date he assumes charge of the office.
The notification, however, stipulates that the appointment will remain subject to the maximum age limit of 68 years. This means the three-year tenure would end earlier if he reaches the prescribed age limit before completing the contractual period.
The NIRC is a federal statutory body dealing with industrial relations matters falling within its jurisdiction, including disputes involving establishments operating across provincial boundaries.
